Margaret Schreibvogel
Margaret Schreibvogel is my maternal Grandmother. She passed away before I ever got the privilege of knowing her. From all the wonderful things my family tells me about her she was all but a Saint. They all say she could make a meal that could feed an army with little or no ingredients. Since I did not get to know her myself, my Mom and my Aunts have passed on her way of cooking to me. I feel so Blessed to have them as my teachers. My Grandma gave birth to 9 children. She was a hard working woman. Not only in the house taking care and feeding a family of 11, but she also worked the fields. My Grandparents were truck farmers. The work fell on them all. Parents and children alike. No one was the exception for working the fields. All our recipes at Lauer-Krauts are inspired by my Grandma Schreibvogel.
